Today we celebrate an important man, an amazing author, and a friend to us all. Today we celebrate Dr. Suess.
His rhymes made reading enjoyable and easy for us all as children. We all grew up wishing we were Whos or woke up each morning craving green eggs and ham. We wished each day to get a visit from the Cat in the Hat or hoped that we could change someone’s heart, just like the Grinch. Most importantly, we approached each day differently because of Dr.Suess. He taught us many valuable lessons that were hidden in the rhymes, that made up the pages of his books.
So today, I would like to celebrate this great man by letting you all know what I learned growing up from reading Dr. Suess.
Because of him, I learned that we all have the power to decide our futures. No one or nothing can stop us. We just need to figure out what we want in life and then go for it, not letting anything stand in our way. We are all capable of accomplishing great things. God gifted each and every one of us with the tools and talents to achieve anything we want, all we have to do it try. We are the authors of our own stories. We decide how our life turns out, and no one else has the power to control our decisions. Find what makes you happy and go for it.
He also taught us to always be ourselves. God made us all different, and we need to embrace what makes us unique. Who cares if someone doesn’t like you based on your personality. As long as you stay true to who you truly are, you will always be happy and feel fulfilled. Don’t change yourself to fit in with others. Be yourself and stand out. After all, every character in Dr. Suess’s books were unique and embraced it. That is why everyone fell in love with the characters. Be you – you are amazing after all.
He also taught us to speak our minds and do what makes us happy. Make decisions for yourself and never change what you believe in in order to please other people or fit in with society. The people that truly care about you will accept you for you. It’s that simple. If someone tries to change you, cut them out of your life. You are perfect the way God made you. Believe what you want to believe. Do what you want to do. Say what you want to say. The ones who matter will love you the same.
He also taught us to reach for the stars and go after all our dreams, no matter how big or impossible they may seem. Try your best and never give up. If you fail, try again. Don’t ever feel like you are not capable of succeeding at something or worthy of going after something. You are all amazing people and can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Reach for the biggest dream you have, after all, someone believes in you.
Finally, he taught us that we are all capable of changing the world. We all our smart, talented, and gifted in our own unique ways. Find what makes you happy and find what you are good at, and go for it. You are all capable of great things. You are all capable of moving mountains. Don’t let anyone ever tell you differently.
Everything mentioned above just scratches the surface of what Dr. Suess taught us all and continues to teach us.
Happy Birthday Dr. Suess. You taught me to be myself, reach for the stars, and realize that I am special. We all are.
